Liquefied petroleum
gas (also called liquified petroleum
gas, liquid petroleum gas, LPG,
LP Gas, or autogas) is a mixture
of hydrocarbon gases - propane (C3H8)
and butane (C4H10).
LPG is synthesised by refining petroleum
or natural gas; it was first produced
in 1910, and the first commercial
products appeared in 1912. |

Autogas is the common
name for liquified petroleum gas when
it is used as a fuel in internal combustion
engines in vehicles. The same equipment
is also used for similar engines in stationary
applications such as generators. Autogas
is widely used as a "green"
fuel as it decreases exhaust emissions
(less 20 % CO2) .
Most LPG vehicles are bi-fuel however,
so should you really require it, you can
still drive on petrol at the flick of
a switch. |
